Ditch Trout?

Memory is a net: one that finds it full of fish when he takes it from the brook, but a dozen miles of water have run through it without sticking. ~~Oliver Wendell Holmes

If lake trout are found in lakes, and brook trout in brooks, what do we call trout that were found in a ditch?

  1. Lucky? How great that the environmental conditions of the ditch will actually support their existence. I don't know that I'd find the prospect of eating a "Ditch Trout" very appetizing, though. LOL!

  2. I'm afraid once the water levels come down their fate will be sealed. The brook is actually a good little distance from where we found these. They must have swam up during high water.

  3. I don't know, but have you ever heard of ditch lilies?

They're those orange lilies that sometimes grow in, you guesed it, ditches! :)

  4. Patti, I would imagine they would be easy to catch, but they were safe that day. :)

  5. I haven't seen lilies growing in ditches. I will have to keep my eye open now. You've peaked my interest, Julie!
