Memory is a net: one that finds it full of fish when he takes it from the brook, but a dozen miles of water have run through it without sticking. ~~Oliver Wendell Holmes
If lake trout are found in lakes, and brook trout in brooks, what do we call trout that were found in a ditch?
Lucky? How great that the environmental conditions of the ditch will actually support their existence. I don't know that I'd find the prospect of eating a "Ditch Trout" very appetizing, though. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid once the water levels come down their fate will be sealed. The brook is actually a good little distance from where we found these. They must have swam up during high water.
ReplyDeleteDinner?
ReplyDeleteI don't know, but have you ever heard of ditch lilies?
ReplyDeleteThey're those orange lilies that sometimes grow in, you guesed it, ditches! :)
Julie
Patti, I would imagine they would be easy to catch, but they were safe that day. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen lilies growing in ditches. I will have to keep my eye open now. You've peaked my interest, Julie!
