So lovely! Ours are just beginning to bloom now, too. But they are a fragrant purple variety, called sweet or odorous violet. Ours originated as a small clump dug up from our son's yard and transplanted, and now they're everywhere in our garden. When they're all in bloom you can smell them from the house, much like when the lilacs are out. Yardley makes a violet scented cologne that is a lot like the plant.
The photos I took were of wild violets, Carol. Now you have me curious as I've never smelled a violet before. Sounds to me as though the fragrance is quite strong.I might have to try out that Yardly cologne.
Very pretty! I like the quote too. Do violets have much of a smell? I'm not sure I've smelled one before.
ReplyDeleteYes, I first came across the quote in a Wayne Dyer book. Not surprising. Violets don't have any scent so far as I know. Kind of a shame, really.
