There is something in the red of a raspberry pie that looks as good to a man as the red in a sheep looks to a wolf. (E. W. Howe)
I discovered these ripe raspberries on the last day of September. What a pleasant surprise. Just when we think that summer is over, we are gifted with these small reminders.
Late September raspberries are just as delicious as July raspberries!
Must have been a pretty small pie you made with those!! lol
ReplyDeleteThey didn't live to see raspberry pie. lol! I ate them right from the vine.
ReplyDeleteI've never even heard of raspberry pie, Laura. I need to get out of this cave! lol
ReplyDeleteOh Patti, then you are certainly missing out on something quite scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteRaspberries are probably my favourite berry. We tried to grow them years ago but they didn't do well here so any we've had this summer were from the market. But blackberries...? They're almost finished, but DH picked a half bucket full a few days ago, and we're eating baked blackberry crumble this weekend. Yum!
ReplyDeleteRaspberries are definitely my favourite berry. I love making raspberry jam every year even though I rarely get the chance to eat much of it thanks to my DH. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThese berries I found were growing in the wild.
Now that I think of it, we have a few -- not many -- growing wild near our cabin in the Cariboo. We were too early for them this summer but the previous summer our son-in-law took a bowl out each morning to collect a few to put on his cereal. :)
